I had to do a covershoot for Hindu Life Magazine and they choose this one for their cover. Many nationalities are so typical Surinamese, like the indigineous people, the maroons, the chinese, the creol, the hindustanies, the dutch, the libanese, etc etc and of course all the beautiful mixtures of very unique combinations. We are all petals of one flower blooming together in this tropical part of the world..

Hi fellow shutterchancers and visitors, I am a bit bussy with some photo projects but didn't want to keep you waiting so here it is. An old photograph taken in 2007. A colorfull exotic flower and family of the Palulu. These flowers just grow in the wild, but are becoming more populair these days and even exported to other countries. The colors in the background and the colors of the flower itself attracted me. Enjoy it and have a nice day.

Meet the passionate Ananta. Ananta is a multi-talented girl. She plays various instruments, does very well in school, dances folklore Indian, ballet and is socially very active for her age. There is much more to be said about her activities, interests and passions, but I leave that part for the magazines who already have interviewed her. It has to be said that her lovely mother is her inspiration. She is the drive, the push, the voice which directs her to the limits of the sky.. Soon she will be off for study in the Netherlands. I wish her a save journey and good luck! A promising young talent and hope one day she will make significant positive changes in Suriname for ALL its people and of course the world.. We're all proud of you Ananta, keep it up!

Blue... Most commonly found in the Natural Rain Forest of Suriname. I believe this particular butterfly, the Morpho Menelaus, is exported from Suriname to Europe, the Americas and Australia. They are transported in boxes still in the state of a soft shell cocoon. These bunch of strikingly blue sparks cruise the fresh air beneath the high Amazon trees. It seems even in the jungle you can enjoy some good old fashion blues ;)) Enjoy and have a productive day! Did you know about 85% of Suriname is still Untouched Rain Forest ? Photograph has not been colormanaged. These butterflies are really blue as illustrated in the photograph.

The name Menimi arrives from the word "Memre Mi" Which means "remember me". The Suriname river runs from deep in the jungle all the way torwards the Atlantic Ocean. Menimie is located behind the dam hours and hours with the boat (no roads, just rain forest) to the south of this river. I visited it with my friends for a couple of days and it was fabulous. Just a small glimps of "memre mi" won't let you forget....

Please meet my good friend and colleague Fausto! For me, this portrait displays how I see his personality. As a funny, vibrant, energetic, enthusiastic and sincere person who isn't afraid to breakout a sweat for some good old fashion results. Numerous times he has assisted me with shoots and not only has he proven to be a quick learner, he also has an observant eye for detail which is crucial if you want to be a good photographer. Here we are somewhere on a rooftop in July '07 with excellent sunlight and dark shadows which I used for my commercial shoot. I emphasized his eye by placing it in the light and the shadow symbolizes his many different faces. I was thinking about a title name. Something like "eye of the beholder ", but it sounded a bit too cliché, so I decided to go with Fausto! The character behind the vision, the vision behind the eye and the eye behind the camera...

This was Soraya's first testshoot, she was nervous, but she still proved to be a true model. One sunny sunday afternoon we went through a forest with white sands in search for a good spot. The sun was almost at the horizon and we found this place with dark greens in the background and a perfect well lit spot. I began capturing the stars twinkling one by one... A special thanks to the model and my asistent for the day sunil
